Variable Rate Irrigation (VRI) Speed Control

For basic VRI control and the benefits of applying water more efficiently

With speed control, your customized VRI prescription speeds up or slows down the centre pivot to achieve the desired application depth across each sector. Like some computerized control panels you’re using, or have used in the past, your VRI Speed Control Prescription is programmed to irrigate your fields in sectors, which look like slices of pie. As your pivot reaches each sector, it speeds up or slows down to ensure the right amount of water is applied.

Customized management zones: Your field is divided into 180 sectors with optimized water application in every sector.
Precise application depth: Based on an uploaded VRI Prescription, your pivot speeds up/slows down to achieve the desired application depth along each sector.
Standard with any Valley ICON smart panel.
Options: Available to install on any Pro2 or Select2 control panel, with required software upgrade.
Flexible: Utilizes your new or existing sprinkler package.
Remote access: Depending on the communications device, VRI Speed Control can be used with non-Valley machines.

How it works

Upload your VRI Speed Control prescription to your control panel or compatible remote communication device. Up to five prescriptions can be uploaded and stored at a time.
In your control panel or compatible remote communication device, turn on VRI Speed Control and select a prescription.
When your centre pivot is running with water, the application depth is adjusted by increasing or decreasing speed of the centre pivot, which has been programmed in your prescription.

Variable Rate Irrigation (VRI) Zone Control

Ensure precision irrigation in more challenging fields

Available on both centre pivots and linears, Valley Variable Rate Irrigation (VRI) Zone Control is ideal for maximizing your water application efficiency in more challenging fields. This includes: varying topography, ditches, bogs, varying soil types, and canals. By breaking your sprinkler package into zones, you can create more than 5,000 sectors in your field to micromanage water application – each based on your needs. Valley VRI Zone Control technology improves precision irrigation to enhance your agricultural productivity.

Precise application depth: A customized VRI prescription is uploaded and creates a sprinkler control plan that pulses valves along the centre pivot or linear zones to achieve your desired application depth.
Flexible: Utilizes your new or existing sprinkler package.
Adjustable for challenging areas: Can be used for on/off control for specific areas you may not want to water, such as ditches, canals, wet areas, or other spots in the field.
Standard with any Valley ICON smart panel.
Options: Available with any Pro2 control panel or AutoPilot Linear (for linears). VRI software upgrade required.
Required hardware: VRI Zone Control box, VRI control panel hardware and control valves for each sprinkler that will be managed by VRI Zone Control.

How it works

A VRI Zone Control Prescription is uploaded to your Valley ICON or Pro2 control panel (for centre pivots), or AutoPilot Linear control panel (for linears).
The VRI Zone Control feature is turned on in the control panel.
When your centre pivot or linear is running with water, the application depth is adjusted by changing the sprinkler control valve pulse rate for the individual sectors. This change in pulse rate is based on the percentage of application depth set in the prescription.

Custom-tailored prescriptions provide precision irrigation to enhance your agricultural productivity. Combined with Valley Variable Rate Irrigation (VRI), you’ll get more out of every acre. Your prescription is the precision agriculture resource that tells your centre pivot when and where to adjust the application depth in specific sectors or management zones in your field. Once implemented, your prescription makes it easy to adapt to changes in soil moisture conditions and modify how you apply water to your management zones throughout the growing season. If you see a change in conditions in part of your field, adjust your VRI prescription to vary water application in that specific zone. Your irrigation application can be highly customized to maximize not only results, but also profitability.

Features

A VRI prescription must be used with VRI Speed Control or VRI Zone Control to fully use either product.
Your prescription allows the creation of a VRI plan based on your topography information, soil data maps, yield data and other user-defined field information.
Upload your prescription remotely to your control panel via Valley BaseStation3 or Valley365.
Your VRI prescription is designed for use on a consultant’s or farmer’s computer.

How to get started

Use the VRI prescription software, which is provided with VRI Speed Control and VRI Zone Control, or
Ask an agronomist to prepare it for you. You will need to gather all of the information and data on your field. Don’t have an agronomist? Your Valley dealer will help you find one.

VRI-iS: Variable Rate Irrigation Individual Sprinkler

How it works

Your field is divided into sectors every 0.1 degree.
Upload a customized VRI prescription to your Valley ICON panel, which changes application rates or turns off individual sprinklers over non-irrigated areas.
AgSense and Basestation3 provide wireless upload capabilities to get your VRI prescription to your center pivot.
By wirelessly uploading your prescription, it’s also possible to make quick adjustments as your water application needs change in the field.
